
Blue cheese and walnut scones
Light and crumbly savoury scones based on Aunty Hazel's scone recipe, always a crowd pleaser
Ingredients
- 2 c self raising flour
- 50 g butter, grated
- .5 t salt
- 30 g blue cheese, crumbled or diced
- .5 c walnuts, broken into smallish pieces
- 1 c milk
Instructions
- Put flour and salt into a bowl then grate the butter into it
- Using a fork, mix well, creating a bread crumb like mixture
- Mix through the blue cheese and the walnuts
- Add the milk and combine gently, don't over mix
- Using hands, pat the mix into a dough and place on a floured surface
- Gently pat the scone mix into a square approx 2-3cm thick
- Cut into 9 pieces, brush tops with milk if you want a more golden look
- Bake for 12-15 minutes at 200degC

This recipe is very versatile. Swap out the blue cheese and walnuts for a combination of your choice.
