Blue cheese and walnut scones

Light and crumbly savoury scones based on Aunty Hazel's scone recipe, always a crowd pleaser

Ingredients
  

  • 2 c self raising flour
  • 50 g butter, grated
  • .5 t salt
  • 30 g blue cheese, crumbled or diced
  • .5 c walnuts, broken into smallish pieces
  • 1 c milk

Instructions
 

  • Put flour and salt into a bowl then grate the butter into it
  • Using a fork, mix well, creating a bread crumb like mixture
  • Mix through the blue cheese and the walnuts
  • Add the milk and combine gently, don't over mix
  • Using hands, pat the mix into a dough and place on a floured surface
  • Gently pat the scone mix into a square approx 2-3cm thick
  • Cut into 9 pieces, brush tops with milk if you want a more golden look
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes at 200degC

Notes

This recipe is very versatile. Swap out the blue cheese and walnuts for a combination of your choice.
