Blue cheese and walnut scones
Light and crumbly savoury scones based on Aunty Hazel's scone recipe, always a crowd pleaser

Ingredients

self raising flour

butter, grated

blue cheese, crumbled or diced

walnuts, broken into smallish pieces

milk
Instructions
Put flour and salt into a bowl then grate the butter into it
Using a fork, mix well, creating a bread crumb like mixture
Mix through the blue cheese and the walnuts
Add the milk and combine gently, don't over mix
Using hands, pat the mix into a dough and place on a floured surface
Gently pat the scone mix into a square approx 2-3cm thick
Cut into 9 pieces, brush tops with milk if you want a more golden look
Bake for 12-15 minutes at 200degC
Notes
This recipe is very versatile. Swap out the blue cheese and walnuts for a combination of your choice.
